Dr Chak Wing Chau donates $20M to UTS

Dr Anthony Pun, National President of the Chinese Community Council of Australia (CCCA) said "Dr Chak Wing Chau is to be congratulated for his generous donation of $20M to UTS. His philanthropic action in contributing to higher education sets good examples to all immigrants to follow and as an immigrant community, Chinese Australians are proud of his vision for higher education.  His $20M donation should be considered as exception".

Dr Pun said "Education has always played a pivotal role in Chines society for thousands of years and many would consider education far more valuable than money. The Chinese immigrant living overseas have demonstrated this tradition by having a strong interest in education and where they have migrated, they have built schools and universities, particularly in SE Asian countries.  Dr Chau now joins a long and noble tradition as a pillar of education and in Australia, he is the first".

Commenting on Dr Chau¡¦s donation to UTS, Dr Pun said, "It is a reflection of his vision to contribute to the community in the most beneficial way.  Education is a nation's investment in her young and the donation will beneficial for generations to come.  On behalf of the Chinese Community Council of Australia, I salute Dr Chau for his generosity, vision and wisdom in making a great contribution to education and indeed to the nation.  He is a great immigrant joining the ranks other great Australian philanthropist who makes significant contribution to the nation.
