| Why do Chinese people believe< |
|
Obviously, the reason as why Feng Shui is so important and plays such a large role in Chinese culture is because Feng Shui has been around for 4000 years. It was through the experiences of individuals and traditions of the Chinese that passed it on from generation to generation.
Feng shui evolved from the simple observation that people are affected, for good or ill, by surroundings: the layout and orientation of workplaces and homes. In addition, the Chinese have long observed that some surroundings are better, luckier, or more blessed than others. Every hill, building, wall, window and corner and the ways in which they face wind and water have an effect. They concluded that if you change surroundings, you change your life. The aim of Feng Shui, then is to change and harmonise the environment - cosmic current known as ch'i - to improve your fortunes.
